A home for play, created by people who practice it every day
Playpedia, created by The Opentree Foundation is a one-stop platform for fun, practical, and proven play-based activities. Everything here comes from real experiences in the field, shared by practitioners who use play to spark joy, learning and connection.
We built Playpedia so that anyone, in any setting, can easily find ideas that work. Whether you’re in a classroom, a community centre, a home, an office, or even online, you’ll find simple and joyful ways to bring people together through play.
Why Play Matters
Play is one of the most powerful tools we have for learning and growth. It helps children (and adults) explore, express, experiment, & build relationships.
It brings energy to classrooms, confidence to workshops, and imagination to everyday spaces.
At Playpedia, we believe that play isn’t an extra, it’s essential. And it should be accessible to everyone.

How Playpedia Started
Playpedia grew from The Opentree Foundation's descades of on-ground work with children and adults across diverse communities.
We saw that so many powerful Play ideas were being created every day, but lived only in notebooks, WhatsApp chats, or in someone’s memory.
We wanted to bring all of these ideas into one simple, open, and friendly space. A place where playful knowledge can be shared, adapted, and used by anyone who believes in the value of play.
