3. If you use the small-group options, form groups of 4-6 by counting children off.

Opening Procedure (5-7 minutes)

PEP-UP: Buzz (3-4 min)
1. Pick someone to say 1, the next child says 2 and so on.
2. Every multiple of 3 becomes BUZZ instead of the number.
3. Anyone who says the number restarts the count.
4. Do one slow round, then one fast round.

NORMS (30 seconds):
- When I say Hi, you say hello.
- Wait for your turn. Support your group.
- Be kind. Play safely.

Play Time (~25-28 minutes)

WHOLE CLASS GAMES:

GAME 1 - Human Knot (8 min)
1. Groups of 6 to 10 stand in a circle.
2. Position A: Everyone holds hands of people on either side of them.
3. Position B: Everyone crosses their hands and holds the hands of people on either side of them.
4. As a group, they must untangle and return to Position A without releasing hands.
5. Make the groups compete by getting them to untangle as fast as possible.

GAME 2 - Category Countdown (10 min)
1. Make 2 teams. You call a category.
2. Teams name things in that category one by one. No repeating. No blanking.
3. The team that repeats or blanks out loses the round.
4. Possible categories: animals with 4 legs, things in a kitchen, sports, things that are red, jobs.
5. Play 4-5 rounds.

GAME 3 - Wink Murder (8 min)
1. One child is the Detective. They go outside or close their eyes.
2. You silently choose a Murderer from the remaining children.
3. The Detective comes back. The Murderer winks at other children, who must "die" slowly and dramatically.
4. The Detective has 3 guesses to identify the Murderer.
5. Play multiple rounds with different children as Detective and Murderer.

IF CHILDREN PREFER SMALLER GROUPS, use these instead:

OPTION A - Shape Numbers (groups of 5-6)
1. Call a number. Children form groups of exactly that number as fast as possible.
2. Anyone without a complete group sits out one round.

OPTION B - Mirror Game (pairs)
1. Two children face each other. One leads slow movements. The other mirrors exactly.
2. Switch leader after 2 minutes.

STEP IN WHEN NEEDED:
1. Human Knot causes real frustration - allow one free pass (let go once to reset a grip).
2. Category Countdown disputes - Did you hear them say that before? No? Then it counts. Move on.

What You May Notice

1. Some groups crack Human Knot in 2 minutes. Others need 10. Both are fine.
2. Children will try to help other groups. That shows good spirit - let them.
3. Arguments about Category Countdown are common. Let the group settle it.

Closing (~3-5 minutes)

1. Each group sits together.
2. Each person says one word about how they felt in the session.
3. Bring everyone together for a group clap chain -- start at one end, travel to the other.

Try Next Time

1. Human Knot with eyes closed throughout.
2. Category Countdown where children choose the topics.
