Description

Students create silly or creative sentences using unrelated vocabulary words written on the board.

Instructions:

1. Write a list of 2-5 vocabulary words that do not relate to each other on the blackboard.

2. Instruct the students to come up with creative sentences that contain all of the vocabulary words. You can choose they do this individually or in partners.

3. The students may either write down their sentences, or keep them in their minds.

4. You can either call on volunteer students to share their sentences, or ask each of the students to share their sentence in a circle.

5. To make the game competitive, students could vote on the best sentence.

6. Continue to write new vocabulary words on the blackboard for students to make into sentences.

Variations & tips:

1. Turn it into a story chain, where each student adds a sentence using a new set of words.

2. Have students write their sentence as a line in a poem or rap using rhythm or rhyme.

3.Let students draw cards with random “emotion” or “tone” cues (e.g., angry, excited, sad), and they must deliver their sentence in that style.
